During the last week of October, five researchers from a French team at Gustave-Eiffel University, with whom we have been working together for many years in the field of geotechnical engineering, stayed in Japan for one week and visited our lab at UTokyo.
Since their last visit (two years ago), some of our testing devices (elementary test apparatus) have been improved/updated, and very luckily we were able to performed a shaking table test on liquefaction during their stay. Thanks to this lucky timing, we were able to have many good discussions.
We also found that we are now working on some common research topics, which would be very nice topic for another future collaboration. I hope we can continue such meaningful and productive technical exchange.
Our students also tried very hard to explain their own research topics and testing devices, and the visit became a very fruitful time for all of us.
